The cast iron pancake was probably the best, most decadent pancake I’ve ever been graced with. It is heavy (in the best way possible) and so delicious. It’s massive so will take a lot of willpower to finish but definitely a miss if you don’t order! The avocado breakfast sandwich was divine as well, but much smaller and low key. But we love high key!!
Long wait, but who cares when the food is this good. Fries were crisp and fresh, but the real star of the show was Phyllis' Broccoli Breakfast Hash. Seriously, probably one of my favorite menu items I've eaten in Miami in a long while. Deliciously crisp, cheesy, potato-y, and with full, earthy broccoli flavor, this hash is worth every penny. The sunny side eggs are the cherry on top! If you're here, please try this - you won't regret it.
Well this was fun! I would call it traditional diner-fare with a higher end twist. It gets busy. Like very busy. So plan accordingly or get there early. We managed to snag a booth for four on a Saturday (no reservation) at 0930. I believe the menu recently changed, but everything we ordered was delicious. Vegetarian options available! Highly recommend!
superrr yummy cuban food i love watching how this place has expanded over the years, definitely a coconut grove class and a great choice for some
classic miami cuisine 🤌🏾my sister and i keep dreaming of the dulce de leche shake and
the turkey club she got. my eggs were cooked perfectly, and the french French toast was so so so good and crunchy thanks to the cereal. my guava gimlet was not guava-y enough but it still really good. def coming back for the ribs next
time
Coffee was delicious here, specifically the Cafe con Leche. Way better than Starbucks across the street. The only reason for 4 stars was that the quiche could have had a bit more eggs and fewer plantains. We loved the French toast though. Would visit again.
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES TO GO FOR A SUNDAY BRUNCH. I've been to Chug's many, many times, and I never, ever had a bad experience. The decoration takes you to a charming Havana with all those old french elements to the details. Once I get there, I always order the coffee with steamed milk. That takes me back to my childhood in Brazil. On the food side, I think I had almost every item they have on the menu but I always have to order the CAST IRON PANCAKE ($17) to share with the table. The pancake is tall and remembers a vanila cake. It comes already with the syrup on the plate. Last time I went there I tried the PHILLIS BROCCOLI BREAKFAST HASH ($16) and this dish is now my number two on their menu. It is a mixture of broccoli, potato, cracker, red onion and cheese sauce on a small pan with an egg on top, it's really good. The DUCK CROQUETAS ($8) it's also a must, and it comes with a side of orange and mustard type of jelly. If you are an avocado fan, you should try the AVOCADO SANDWICH ($15), or if you just want to have a usual breakfast, LA COMPLETA ($15) is what you are looking for. They serve it with a Cuban Tostada that is very light and crispy. The price is grate, and all the portions are very fulfilling. IF YOU HAVEN'T HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT CHUG'S, I HIGLY RECOMMEND IT!
Managed to snag a spot at the countertop and got a banana carajillo, guava and cheese pastellito and the lechon hash. The drink was great even if lacking in banana. The pastellito was actually very fresh. But the lechon hash was a BIG disappointment. Barely any lechon and mostly potato. Didn't really have any flavor although the egg was perfectly done. Love the atmosphere but the food could do with a little more love. The service was great though!
My girlfriend and I came once really enjoying the food but with how empty the place was I wanted to come back a second time to make sure it wasn't a spoof.
Yeah... It wasn't a spoof. This place has great food (plenty of options but try the burger) and attentive servers. The diner is very well decorated and themed and the prices are honestly quite well.
I also think they have outdoor seating but I've only ever sat inside. We'll be coming back again soon for Happy Hour!
